4479 Charlieparker (1985 CP1) is a Main-belt Asteroid discovered on February 10, 1985 by Henri Debehogne at the European Southern Observatory.
The asteroid is named for Charlie Parker, (1920-1955) one of the greatest masters of the alto saxophone. Because of his brilliant use of chords and arpeggios, he has usually been named the principal inventor of bebop, which led to the development of modern jazz.
